The origins of Naval Gijón Shipyard went back to the year 1875 though it began to deal as an independent business company in December, 1984.
In Naval Gijón , we may then observe that tradition, experience and stability are combined with the dynamism of a company with young spirit.
Naval Gijón is a Synthesis Shipyard with the necessary number of highly-qualified and polyvalent staff, who are in charge of the management of the project direction as well as of all those works which give it the possibility to keep the control of the production as well as of the management process.
Regarding the necessary and essential outsourcing of our activities, Naval Gijón preserves its power to take strategic decisions and to control works, services and processes.
Our production process –which, though being innovative, has already been implemented successfully- is based on strategic alliances with specialised auxiliary companies and / or Shipyards for subcontracting the “Parts of the Ship” as turn-key projects which include engineering, materials and workmanship.
The co-operation with the Auxiliary Industry and its proper integration into the Shipyard, i.e. in the processes of offers, negotiations of contracts and building of the ship, give us the opportunity to take advantage of the synergisms produced and, therefore, the shipbuilding potential of the Shipyard is increasing. We may then be highly competitive -both regarding prices as well as terms of delivery- and preserve, at the same time, the quality standards that have always characterised our company.
After having built more than 400 ships, the private shipyard may be in charge of the building of all types of vessels and shipping apparatuses with a unit capacity of up to 43,000 deadweight tons, 189 m. length and 35 m. breadth.
